Creator History

William Sydney Scroggie was born in Nelson,Canada in 1919 and died in Bridgefoot, Dundee on 9th September, 2006.He was educated in Edinburgh and Dundee and became sub editor of the Hotspur, a boy's comic. He was an active climber and on the outbreak of the Second World War he joined the 7th Cameronians, Scottish Rifles, later transferring to the elite Lovat Scouts. He lost his eyesight and lower left leg just before the end of the war. He then worked at NCR, Dundee till he retired.He returned to the hills in 1954 and in 2001 was awarded an honorary degree at Dundee University.
