Compass, metal, glass, rotating face suspended in liquid has white ground inscribed with black numerics depicting degrees, illustrated motif represents North, yellow spirit level on outer case rim, inscribed in white text "Medium Landing Compass, No 4584H, 6B/34, ↑", hinged foresight with hair line, fixed magnifying prism, brass screw used as filling plug, metal plaque "KH1/R/9/53", grey, white, black, yellow.
Compass box, wood, leather, metal, hinged lid, two green protective pads on inside of lid, label, white ground, black text "before closing, turn the circle so that prism is over the filling plug", cut out shape in false base to accommodate brass screw, metal fastening plus leather strap and metal buckle, stencilled on top of lid "Delicate instrument, handle with great care", on front lower part of box stencilled lettering "medium landing compass", brown, green, white, black.
