Provenance

A guy called Dave Chalmers started the Clan Tent Co. In Greenock in the 1970’s. Initially concentrating on tents (as the name implies) he expanded into other ‘lines’ including the casualty bag that we have here in the collection, which Dave made himself on his trusty sewing machine as he did with all his other items.
One of the first principles of first aid in a mountain rescue is to keep the casualty warm; blankets were used in the early days until guys like Dave came along with better ideas such as this one which is a sort of scoop stretcher with handles so that a casualty can be easily slid onto a stretcher.
Dave did a lot of development with Hamish MacInnes and the Glencoe rescue team in the 1970/80’s, though this particular one belonged to Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team.
