Staub
Switzerland
Staub were one of the many Swiss companies to make skis in the early 1900's and as with many Swiss items the quality was very good. There were very few UK ski manufacturers at the time and there hasn't been since so companies such as Lillywhites in London imported large quantities from Switzerland, Germany and Norway to feed the ever growing enthusiasm for the sport of skiing in the UK.
Staub was very popular with British Skiers since they were of a high quality and were often ahead of the game with innovations such as one piece brass edges rather than sectional metal ones.
The Scottish Ski Club donated around 60 pairs of skis to our collection in 2004 and many of them were Staub - proving very nicely how popular they were.
Part of collection passed on from Scottish Ski Club
