Dating from the 1970's these fabulous rucksacks were used by Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team for carrying a casualty bag, first aid equipment and rescue ropes. A casualty bag is basically a large sleeping bag which just about every mountain casualty gets wrapped up in, and this rucksack would have 'attended' dozens of rescues in the 1970's,80's and 90's, before being replaced by rather more comfortable versions.
Made by Karrimor and distributed by Nevisport, they are extremely hard wearing, but not very comfortable owing to a very basic design. You'll find various Casbags in our Mountain Rescue Section.
