ASMU
Germany
ASMU is an abbreviated version of August Schuster of Munich, a company that was formed in 1914 to become one of the leading climbing equipment retailers in the world at the time. Products included ski-bindings, tents, clothing, crampons, ice-axes and karabiners. The ASMU brand disappeared in the late 1960's and we suspect the karabiners we have here in the collection are from that era, or a little earlier. The brand lives on, however, with its new title of Sporthaus Schuster. We see that 'Joe' has scratched his name on one karabiner, and though we don't know who Joe is - we can say thanks for the donation.
