Denny Moorhouse and Shirley Smith founded the Clog factory in Deiniolen, North Wales in 1966.
Pitons were the main form of rock protection then and everybody had a rack of them hanging from their waistband along with a hammer to bang them in.
They were almost universally imported from the continent back then so Danny rectified the situation by producing a range of them made from molybdenum steel, four fine examples of which we have here in the collection.
This little set were gathered from an old box of gear that was part of Mick Tighe’s Mountain Guiding Company, Nevis Guides.
