Provenance

Golo is basically a fairly crude form of expansion bolt which is used for artificial climbing, or aid climbing. A hole needs to be drilled first then the golo is inserted with a wee wedge shaped expander in the slot at the tip, and driven home with a piton hammer. These would be used on areas of blank rock where there were no cracks for pitons. These were one of the first type of expansion bolt and are a bit of a rarity. We have to thank climber and outdoor instructor, Nick Halls, for donating them to the collection.
