This pack frame was part of the IKAR (International Kommittee on Alpine Rescue) equipment that was produced mostly in Austria from the 1950's onwards and made available to rescue teams throughout Europe. Designed to be used with wire, the system was not really suited to British mountain rescue and very few items found their way into the UK. This one lay unused for many years in the Tollymore Outdoor Centre in N. Ireland until it was donated/loaned to SMHC.me
