Another little gem from Bobbie Corson who donated several items to the collection. Bobbie was a member of Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team in the 1950's and 60's and a joiner to trade. Not quite sure when he made this lovely little piton hammer but a lot of care and skill has obviously gone into making it.
Mick Tighe and Ian Sutherland went to visit Bobbie at his home in Mallaig in December 1993. to get some stories. After a while they adjourned upstairs where Bobbie removed a panel in the bedroom wall to reveal an Aladdin's cave of old camping, climbing and skiing gear which had been there since he built house twenty years earlier!
Stories continued into the wee small hours when Mick and Ian finally headed home with Bobbie's gear stashed in the boot.
