Patent boot stretcher. Heel part attached to a metal rod with a piece of wood at the top. This heel part is also attached at the front to a wooden claw which is hinged and has three small metal cylinders inserted on either side. There is a locking lever on the bottom of the heel part.

The absence of any maker's name suggests this lovely item was homemade - possibly as an apprentice piece; it certainly has that look about it. Mick Tighe bought it in a junk shop for a few pounds.
