A blush of rust on the head, otherwise this lovely wee piton hammer is in mint condition and doesn't look as if it's ever bashed a piton - even the original leather wrist loop is still there. Most rock climbers carried a 'rack' of pitons and a hammer to drive them in, in the 1960's and 70's until improved protection technology rendered them both redundant. These Stubai ones were fairly common, but few have survived in such good condition
