Provenance

used by Joy Ingram WRAC champion skier.

Neatsfoot oil in its traditional form is made from the skin, bones and feet of cattle rendered down and purified to produce an oil that is an excellent leather preservative.
With this in mind we set this lovely old pair of ski boots in a pan on the Rayburn and poured in a tin of Neatsfoot Oil. Over a period of two days the boots soaked up the whole lot! Hopefully, they are a happier pair of boots now and are well preserved for some time to come.
The boots were passed on to us by The Scottish Ski Club along with lots of other scrummy ski gear. We can't find a maker's name on them but we suspect thay are from the 1950's - a time when boots and skis were multi purpose, being used for uphill and cross country.
Thanks to Joy for donating them.
