Awarded to Hamish Brown on completion of the first ten coast-to-coast Ultimate Challenge events, now the TGO Challenge. Knitted by Terry Williams, wife of Roger Smith, the coordinator of the event which was created by Hamish Brown.
The Great Outdoors Challenge, originally The Ultimate Challenge, is an event which has taken place for many years (roughly 1980 > 2010) and basically involves walking across Scotland from West to East, by any chosen route. It's not a race, though there are competitors, and prizes are awarded to the most unusual, innovative or novel way of doing the 'crossing'. The competition usually takes place in the spring.
