Provenance

From what we can gather, Kenny Dixon was a skier, race trainer and entrepreneur who set up KD Sportswear in Aviemore in the early 1970's. These were the pre global warming days, when the Scottish Ski Industry was at its height and lots of small, peripheral industries were springing up all over the place. Janet Henderson, who donated this particular hat, has a nice story about it.
"This hat's claim to fame was during a 'Round the Island' race years ago. We'd all broken spinnakers going round The Needles and a large yacht began to pass us - Ted Heath! Lindsay went straight down and fetched his hat and wore it as we were passed"
