Provenance

This is a fabulous little icon of Scottish Mountaineering history. Having been bought off the internet for £3.00 by Mick Tighe in 2011, it's physically worthless, but historically priceless. The 'brooch' was made by Davie Glen of which there is a load of information in our archive section. Amongst many other things Davie was an artist and he decided to produce these brooches to earn a bit of cash - unfortunately we don't know how much he charged or how many he sold. Each picture was hand drawn, painted, cut out and fixed into the brooch which could also be used as a cap badge. We are fortunate in having some of Davie's brooch templates in our archive - examples of which are shown opposite. We also have lots of his wee paintings and just love the Ben Nevis one opposite.
