We suspect 1950's or earlier for this fabulous pair of ski boots which must have been top of the range at the time. Even the little lace hooks and the buckle have a touch of class about them. The sport of downhill skiing as we know it today hadn't really got started way back then, so these boots were the business, and looking at the wear around the heel they seem to have been pretty well used with a Kandahar type binding - they've been equally well cared for.
Mick Tighe bought this pair on e-bay for £12.95 in 2012 and was very pleased at that. There was the suggestion that they might be part of the 'Explorer' range of gear, but we've not been able to find anything about that. The rather long winded 'Schonebecker Gummiwerke' (Schonebecker rubber works) on the sole refers to the German Company of that name ( still in existence in 2012) though we are not sure if they made just the sole or the whole boot. We'll try and do a bit more research.
