shirt - Henbury,
In May 2011 the Hebrides Search and Rescue Team became the newest rescue team in the UK, having been formally recognised and accepted by the Mountain Rescue Committee of Scotland at their Annual General Meeting. Stretching from the Butt of Lewis in the north to Barra Head in the south, the vast array of islands had formerly been covered by rescue teams from the mainland, but the increase of walking, mountaineering and rock climbing paved the way for a resident team with outside help as and when required.
Tom Laverty did a large amount of the background work that went into setting up the team, so it's quite appropriate that we have one of his shirts here in the collection to mark a little milestone in Scotland's mountaineering history. Check out the Hebrides Search and Rescue web-site.
