Provenance

Founder of the Scottish Mountain Heritage collection, Mick Tighe, spent some time training with the British Biathlon team back in the 1970's - biathlon being the sport of skiing and shooting - and at some point bought this ski racing suit in Norway. Interestingly, some 40 years later, cross country racing suits are very similar though full length rather than knee length.
For those with an interest in such things, Mick's rifle, in the photo opposite, is a 7.62mm Mauser with a Winchester barrel and an Elim sight system. International Biathlon switched from these large bore rifles to the smaller .22 system in the 1980's rendering modern bi-athletes pussycats and the old boys hard men!!
