Slioch
Scotland
Mary and Jim Buchanan set up Slioch back in 1982. Based at Poolewe in the North West Highlands it was a small, bespoke business that specialised in tailor-made clothing for the outdoor person.
Mary sold the business to a couple called Tes and Catherine Urquart-Taylor in the 1990's and in the process of promoting their new aquisition Tes and Catherine gave Mick Tighe some gear, including this hat, to wear when he was working as a stunt man on a mountain rescue film. Mick doesn't think it was his fault, but a few years later (circa 2005) the business ran out of luck and ceased to trade.
Slioch, the mountain still stands tall and proud beside Loch Maree, but the business that borrowed its name for a decade or two, is no more.
