Pertrix
Sweden
Pertrix Chemische Fabrik seems to have been founded in hamburg around 1917, primarily to make drycell batteries for radios and torches. By 1926 they had been bought over by the larger, Varta company, but Pertrix continued to use their own brand name.
At some point Pertrix started producing torches as well as the batteries to go in them and it seems that they were major suppliers to the German army during World War Two.
Mick Tighe bought this mint condition head torch in 2013 from a junk shop in Bødo, Norway for £10. Pertrix had factories in Sweden in the 1960/70's and we think that's where this torch came from - made for either the Swedish or Norwegian army - maybe they made them for both!
As with all torches from this era, they were consigned to history when Light Emitting Diodes (LED's) came along in the 1990's, so we are delighted to add this excellent example to our collection of Lights on the Mountain
