'P' shaped ice screw with small lever above the 'P'

We reckon this Stubai adjustable ice screw dates from the 1980’s, a time when ice screws were changing from a simple cork screw device to something more sophisticated. The idea here is that the hanger can be screwed down the main shaft of the screw if it can’t go all the way into the ice i.e. if it’s too thin. This reduces the leverage on the screw in the event of a fall.
This particular one belonged to Mick Tighe's Mountain Guiding Company, Nevis Guides, at one time and we are grateful to our special correspondent, Juan Carlos, in Mexoco, for telling us the maker’s name since there are no markings on it.
