Provenance

We're not sure of their first names, but it seems that the Clarke brothers started making outdoor clothing at a place called Hebden Bridge, Yorkshire, back in in the 1950's and they used the trading name Clarkes Craghopper.
Around 1975/76 another company called G&H Products bought out the Clarkes and incorporated them in their business, losing the Clarkes name, but keeping Craghoppers in the process.
As with so many of these small, successful, British companies they also sold out, in this case to the Regatta Group in 1995. Various innovations along the way have seen the company develop into the new millenium and they are still going strong in 2014.
Dating from the mid to the late 70's our mint condition breeches came in a rather unusual manner. Having turned up in an Oxfam shop in Marlow, they asked us if we wanted them, so we sent them a £20 donation and they sent us the breeches - job done!
