Forrest Mountaineering
USA
Founder of The Scottish Mountaineering Heritage Collection, Mick Tighe, forged a link with a fellow collector over in California in the Autumn of 2013. Art McCarthy had some spare American climbing gear to trade and Mick had some spare British gear. These two Forrest Mountaineering Foxheads were part of the first consignment to come over in the Spring of 2014. They were developed back in 1970 by Bill Forrest who worked out of Denver, Colorado at the time. Bill set up a company called Forrest Mountaineering which produced lots of innovative gear through to the 1990's.
The pyramid style nut was not dissimilar to ones being produced in the UK at that time by firms such as Clog and Troll - an era that had only just seen the passing of engineering nuts as protection for rock climbers. Another fine addition to our ever growing collection of old rock climbing gear - thanks Art.
