Provenance

Nevisport began life in December 1970 at the far end of Fort William High Street, in the shadow of the mountain that gave it the name. Ian Sutherland and Ian Sykes were the 'two Ians' at the helm and the company went from strength to strength, expanding into ever bigger shops along the High Street and into other shops around the country.
Always on the lookout for new and innovative ideas they would commission their own style of clothing from time to time, and get the leading clothing companies of the day to make them up - this Mountain Equipment Thermofleece top is a prime example.
For the fashion historians we'd better point out that Thermofleece is somewhat of an enigma as there are so many forms; Therma-fleece. Thermofleece etc. and because there's no label on this particular top, we are not sure which one it is.
Anyway, good friend and the Heritage Collection's Chief Photographer, Alex Gillespie, donated this 'pullover' fleece which he reckons dates from around 1980 and was a Nevisport 'exclusive.' He actually gave us two, the other one is so good we are going to wear it!
