Provenance

Rather a large First Aid Kit to go in the average rucksack, which is not surprising really as it's designed to go in a helicopter!
Mick Anderson was an RAF helicopter crewman back in the 1970's and 80's, spending most of his career in the Search and Rescue Squadrons. This meant lots of mountain rescues, so we are very pleased with this excellent link with mountain heritage
Mick was one of the guys who dangles on the end of the winch wire when helicopters recover folk from difficult locations and in that role he would have had to deal with any injuries that he came across - hence the first aid kit, which would be clipped onto his harness while he was being lowered. Crewmen/ winch men are first aid trained, often to paramedic standard and we assume Mick was too.
Mick passed away in 2014 and his family kindly donated this first aid kit, a helmet and a flying suit when clearing out his belongings- thanks folks.
