Provenance

In a world of electronic devices such as Global Positioning Systems(GPS), thermal imaging cameras and avalanche transceivers, rescue teams from all over the world have to resort, very often, to pushing avalanche probes into the snow to find folk who are buried - not a pleasant pastime.
This particular set of probes came from the RAF Rescue Team in Leuchars, Fife, when it ceased to exist in 2014. They have rather sensibly been painted dayglow orange, making them easy to see in the snow.
We are not 100% sure, but this set looks very much like
the ones that Nevisport sold back in the 1980's......check out our other sets of probes for the Nevisport story.
