Provenance

Fabulous! The best word we can come up with to describe this 1970's anorak which was made for the British Antarctic Survey (BAS), though who by, we are not sure.
Beautifully tailored from Ventile material, it's ultimately acquired the patina that fashion designers dream of. We have a similar anorak in the collection (see related items) which was acquired by BAS from Alpine Equipment Specialists, Robert Lawrie of London and we suspect this one may be from the same source since BAS seems to have had a trade deal going with them at the time.
We know for sure that this particular anorak belonged to Pete Hisset who was down in Antarctica with BAS in the late 1970's. Fortunately, Pete held on to it when he left and finally gifted it to us in 2015 - thanks Pete.
