"D J SIVITER DEMO. KARABINER"
Silver
Dave Siviter
Dave Siviter was a mountain guide back in the 1960/70's and he also worked as a lecturer in engineering at Bangor Normal College in North Wales. In 1963 he found out that a company called High Duty Alloys in Birmingham were selling off their remaining stock of Scott Karabiners, so Dave bought them, the only problem was that they arrived without the locking gates attached.
An ideal project for some of his students thought Dave and to show them how a karabiner worked he made this demonstration version which he kindly handed on to us in 2015.
Dave managed to sell most of the assembled karabiners to various outdoor shops but still had a few unassembled ones left in 2015 which he also donated. A nice little story.
You'll find Dave's Scott Karabiners plus one or two others elsewhere in the collection.
