A little bit of a curio this, and one of Italian rather than Scottish Mountain Heritage. It's the custom on many Alpine peaks to have a little book on the summit so folk can record their visits. The books, and their containers, are often placed by the local Alpine Club and completed books are kept in the relevant club archive.
So we have here in the collection a much damaged summit book container which belonged to the CIA Sez Seregno, which is the Seregno section of the Italian Alpine Club; Seregno being a town in northern Italy.
Curiously, and rather confusingly, Mick Tighe found the container in the Engadine area of Switzerland, albeit not far from the Italian border. It was lying in a boulder field and as it was damaged he thought it better as a 'souvenir' than a 'return to owner'.
So we now have a little piece of Italian Heritage in our Scottish Collection, though from which summit we are not sure.
