We suspect 1950's or 60's for this pair of wooden cross country skis which though made in Germany, appear to have been destined for the Norwegian market since they have 'Oslo' stamped on them.
Made from a single piece of wood, these would have been a fairly 'downmarket' set of skis since there were rather more sophisticated laminated versions around at the time such as Splitkein and Madshus.
The original German binding has been replaced with a Norwegian, Rottafella cross country version.
This pair came from the stores of the National Outdoor Centre at Plas-y-Brenin when they were having a clear out in the 1980's and were subsequently used by Mick Tighe in connection with his Mountain Guiding Company, Nevis Guide.
The Germans would have called this type of ski, 'langlauf', the Norwegians 'Langrenn'.
