Provenance

Playing cards seem to have been invented by the Chinese back in the 9th Century Tang Dynasty and since then folk have been looking for evermore ways to decorate them.
Thomas De La Rue started making cards way back in the 1830's and went on to produce a huge variety of cards which have become very collectible.
We are not really sure, but suspect our little set date from the 1960's and seem to be from a series of sporting themes. We bought them on the internet for a couple of pounds in 2016.
