Provenance

A guy called Richard Martin is credited with inventing grass skiing in 1966; the idea being to use grass skis as an out of season training method for Alpine skiing. Roller skis had been used before this, though they are only suitable for roadwork. Grass skis use either wheels or tracks and there is much debate as to the merits of each.
The International Ski Federation (FIS) hold an annual World Cup Grass Ski Competition - one advantage being that it is not affected by global warming and lack of snow!
The Rollka Skis we have here in the collection were made in Germany, we suspect around 1985/90. We bought them on E-bay for £65 in 2016 to compliment our ski selection. They are of the 'track' type and will fit a downhill ski boot.
