Provenance

The Swiss company of Amrein & Weber seem to have begun making skis in the years between the two world wars, a time when the new sport of skiing was booming, particularly amongst the rich upper classes of the European elite.
Few details of the company's history remain and their skis are a bit of a rarity so we are delighted to have this fine set of child's skis in our collection.
They are branded 'Piccolo' which means small in Italian and we have seen other versions like 'Lilliput' which also means small, as in a child, so maybe they specialised in childrens skis.
Made from wood with a simple form of Kandahar binding, they appear to date from the 1950/60's and once belonged to Donnaie Mackenzie, a stalwart of the Scottish Ski Club and well travelled skier. Donnaie passed away in 2017 and his family kindly donated these skis to the collection - thanks folks.
