Provenance

These rather large waterproof trousers were issued to a rather small, Ann Wakeling, by the Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team in the 1980’s. Because they were a bit of a mis-match Ann hardly ever wore them so they’ve arrived, pretty much brand new, here in the collection some 40 years later.

Henri Lloyd began life in 1963, the name being an amalgam of its two founders, Angus Lloyd and Henri Strzelocki. They were based in Manchester and specialised in sailing apparel and outdoor clothing using materials such as bri- nylon in the early days, Neoprene, which is what these trousers are made from and the Gore-tex technology later on. The Henri Lloyd brand lives on in 2018 though who the owners are now we are not sure.
