Gaylord Campbell hit the American headlines back in 1967 when he was hit by a large boulder when climbing on the North face of the Grand Teton. It left him with an open fracture of his left leg and it took the Teton Park Wardens three days to get him down.
Fast forward to 1979 and the now recovered, Gaylord, hit the mountaineering headlines with his patented Saddlewedge; passive nuts for rock climbing. They come with a rather tedious explanatory leaflet which you will find elsewhere in the colllection along with some pristine Saddlewedges and the other Gaylord production - the Wedgefast.
The fine, much used set we have here in the collection were for many years in the ‘rack’ of Willie Jeffrey as he pioneered new routes on the Skye sea cliffs and various other crags.
