Provenance

The Karrimor, Annapurna range of packframes seem to have appeared around 1978/9 with the claim that there were 30 permutations of frame and sack - wonder if anyone ever tried them all?
Pack frames were popular with the backpacking/ hiking/ camping brigade in the 1970/80’s since they were vesatile, lightweight and inexpensive. Climbers didn’t like them very much because they were wide, rather cumbersome and the frame got caught on everything.
Karrimor were churning out a vast array of rucksacks at this time, in fierce competition with their main UK rivals, Berghaus. This particular packframe was kindly donated by Ken Ledward who was a gear tester for Karrimor.
