We already had an Outward Bound rucksack in the collection when this Outward Bound 11 arrived to further enhance our ever growing, Karrimor rucksack collection. The strapping system has changed a little and the edging material has changed colour, otherwise little seems to have altered from the original.
A styalised drawing of the Outward Bound sack appeared on a stamp, celebrating 25 years of the Duke of Edinburgh Award in 1981. It also had a Karrimor Karrimat on the top, giving Karrimor an unexpected sales boost.
Aimed, fairly obviously, at the Outward Bound, Boy Scout and Adventure School market, these sacks first appeared around 1970 and the fact that many have survived indicates how well made and durable they are. Unfortunately, we are not sure where this one came from. Just one of the many items we are donated on an almost daily basis.
