Provenance

Found on Ben Alder in the Highlands of Scotland, this fabulous, homemade ice axe has a story to tell - unfortunately, we don’t know it!
A friend of ours, Simon Munro, found it in the heather in 2010, kept it in his shed for a while before deciding to donate it to us.
Robustly constructed, it has obviously been made in someone’s workshop and though rather crude, it still fulfills the requirements of an iceaxe - cutting steps and ice axe breaking.
Maybe the owner will see it on our website one day. It remains a mystery meanwhile.
