HB (Hugh Bonner)
Wales
Hugh Banner was a clmber in the 1960’s and like many of his ilk, he had a creative mind and, it seems, the engineering skills to go with it.
A guy called Ray Jardine had created the first mass produced camming device in 1977, the Friend, and there followed a clamour to produce similar devices without infringing on Jardine’s original design and patent. Hugh Banner was up to the challenge, first creating Micromates in conjunction with Clog, then owned by Wild Country.
He then set up his own business in 1988 and, amongst other things, produced the Quadcam and later the HB Fix, two fine examples of which we have here in the collection, dating from around 1992/3.
These Fixes were kindly donated by our good friend, Jonathon Winter in 2019.
