Provenance

Climber, blacksmith and Mountain Guide, John Brailsford, created the first ever purpose designed 'nut' for rock climbing in 1961. He called it the Acorn and we have one in the collection. His next creation was the M.O.A.C. (1962) - a simple wedge shaped nut which became universal with climbers in the UK and in many other places.
M.O.A.C. was the shortened version of Mountaineering Activities, the company which produced and marketed John's inventions.
Several variations followed and we've gathered them together here to create the M.O.A.C. family; they include the 1-4 set, a Baby M.O.A.C, the original with the rounded edges, and the later version.
Some 60 years later climbers are still using M.O.A.C's, surely one of the great climbing milestones.
