We saw this fabulous set of homemade nuts/wedges for sale on ebay, but thought the price was too high. We subsequently e-mailed the seller and asked if he would do a swap for some of our excess gear - he agreed so a primus stove, piton hammer and some other nuts went south and these nuts/wedges came north - proper job!
Unfortunately, the guy we got them from didn’t know who made them since he bought them in an auction.
They are beautifully made and modelled on well known brands such as MOAC, Troll and Chouinard Stoppers.
They have been well used and no doubt well treasured - how nice it would be to know by whom.
They will be treasured by us anyway.
NB For the non climbers it’s worth noting that ‘nuts’ is a generic term for lumps of metal or aluminium that climbers jam in the rocks to make anchors. It derives from nuts- as in nuts and bolts- that were used for the same purpose back in the day.
