Provenance

M.O.A.C. Is the shortened version of MOuntaineering ACtivities, an organisation formed in the late 1960’s by Mountain Guide, Peter Gentil and shop owner, Ellis Brigham. The organisation produced climbing equipment which could be sold in Brigham’s shops and elsewhere.
Their most famous production by far was the MOAC itself, a wedge shaped nut for rock climbing invented/ created by John Brailsford but produced and sold by MOAC the company.
MOAC- the company- made and had made lots of different outdoor gear, much of which can be seen elsewhere in our collection.
They also imported gear from abroad and stamped the MOAC logo on it; in this case a Stubai ice axe from Austria dating from the 1970’s
