Provenance

American born, Erik Weihenmayer, is probably the world’s most accomplished blind mountaineer, with a vast array of achievements including an ascent of Mount Everest along with the seven other high points of the different continents.
In 2021, along with his good friend, Timmy O’Neil, and chairman of our Heritage Collection, Mick Tighe, Erik came to Scotland for a sea stack climbing expedition. It was a huge success with ascents of The Old Man of Stoer(Lochinver), Yesnaby Castle(Orkney) and the Old Man Of Hoy.
Having climbed Everest in 2001, Erik still had a couple of oxygen cylinders from the expedition in his store, one of which he kindly donated to us.
It is signed by many if the expedition members and it is a wonderful addition to our collection - extending it across the ranges.
