Provenance

MSR seems to have begun life in 1969 when an American, Larry Penberthy, formed the company to continue the passion of improving the safety of outdoor gear.
He took existing gear and improved it, in many cases creating a whole new concept as with the MSR Stove we have here in the collection.
The MSR stove appeared around 1979 and Penberthy wanted it to be quicker, lighter, more compact and more versatile than its counterparts- it was designed to run primarily on the rather more pure, white fuel (sometimes called Coleman Fuel) It would also work with petrol though this required a different jet/ nipple and was not as efficient.
There have been various models over the years: Whisperville, Dragonfly etc., along with MSR pots, pans and fuel bottles.
We are not quite sure which model this one is but do know that it dates from around 1995 and was used by Mick Tighe in his Mountain Guiding business, Nevis Guides.
