Provenance:
We have several piton hammers in the collection, but this one is a wee bit different as its got a ‘hooky’ thing at the front which we assume is for hooking out pitons and probably for cleaning out cracks. This one dates from the 1970s when folk were still carrying pitons around and banging them in for protection. Aluminium chocks and camming devices took over from pitons in the following decades, rendering these guys obsolete, so we are pleased to have it in the collection.
