Provenance:
Later versions of these Charlet Moser ice climbing tools were called Pulsars, but we’re not sure if these earlier ones had the same name. Please let us know if you have more information. We do know that these early ones were very popular with Scottish ice climbers in the 1980s, and were probably one of the early modular designs where you could change the pick and the adze to suit the type of climbing you were about to tackle. Most folk stuck with the pick we have here on this pair, drooped with a hint of the banana bend. This was a time when the great debate was taking place between the drooped pick brigade and the curved version – the battle continues!

This pair once belonged to Ado Liddell who, amongst many other things, was a long serving instructor at Glenmore Lodge, Scotland’s National Outdoor Centre. Ado’s wife, Glenna, kindly donated them when Ado headed off to the great mountain ranges in the sky.
