Provenance:
Though based in Greenock on the outskirts of Glasgow, we think it would be fair to describe Clan Tent as a cottage industry, and though he had help from his family and a few others the owner, Dave Chalmers, was pretty much a one man band. Having served time with the clothing and tent makers Blacks of Greenock, Dave had become a wizard with the sewing machine and decided to go it alone in the early 1970s.

Tents and down clothing were specialities of the house and we have a fine example of the latter here in the collection. Dave made this duvet for the Arran Mountain Rescue Team circa 1975/6, founder of our collection, Mick Tighe, saw it languishing in the team store on a visit in the 1990s, the team kindly agreed to donate it to our collection – thanks guys.
