Provenance:
Irene Addie was a lady of many parts, founding member of the Scottish Countryside Activities Council. member of the Scottish Ladies Climbing Club (LSCC) and outdoor activities advisor to the Girl Guides Association, which is where our little cookset fits in.

We’re calling it a Girl Guides cookset though this particular one was Irene’s which she used herself and for demonstrating to the girls. It’s a classic 1950s cooking outfit. A National Dried Milk tin (on the left) has been converted into a billy can for boiling water on the wee tin stove (on the right) which runs on Hexamine blocks (meta fuel). Everyone reused flour bags back then for packing things away and the gloves were early health and safety precautions – preventing burnt fingers – the whole lot popped into a little blue satchel, fabulous.

Irene donated many other interesting items which you’ll find elsewhere in the collection.
