Provenance:
G.W. Scott & Sons are credited with inventing the modern picnic hamper which they unveiled at the World’s Fair in Crystal Palace in 1851, it seems that Charles Dickens was in attendance ‘who loved a good picnic’.

Their ‘Coracle’ brand was a luxury fitted luncheon and tea basket, often with high quality cutlery and dinnerware slotted into their bespoke wicker baskets. Vintage sets are selling for up to £2,000 in 2024 having become avid collectors items. Not sure if this lovely little kettle was originally part of a hamper, or maybe a standalone item aimed at the 1950s outdoor market, it has some lovely wicker work on the handle, a ‘trademark’ of G.W. Scott & Sons.

Knowing he was a bit of a collector, Mick Tighe’s mother-in-law, Marion Harding, gave him this kettle set as a Christmas present, which just goes to show that not all mother-in-laws are bad!
